Born of Nothing

The creature drifted in the air in front of me, existing without purpose. As it sadly floated in the sky, its mourning wail and ponderous motion filled me with a deep sense of dread. If I wasn't so terrified, I would have felt sorry for it. What were they thinking, sending me to reason with this thing? What made me accept this task in the first place? Curiosity? Pride? Pity? Maybe... it was that little spark I saw in its' one rolling eye... a recognition of sorts... Something that spoke desperately of the creature's need for someone to just... listen. And not run away screaming. OR, it could be a hidden blood thirsty desire to eat people. I dunno.

But hey, I didn't have much else to do today, so I calmly made my way towards it, and within shouting distance, addressed the enormous monstrosity:

"Hey."

It took awhile for the thing to realise I was there.

"... Hmm?"

"How's it going?"

This pause was longer. I resisted the need to cringe as the eyes rolled and tentacles flailed haphazardly in the air. The mouths opened and shut with a creepy slowness. I bit my tongue when all the eyes focused in on me.

"Oh... I've had better days..."

"Wanna talk about it?"

The sun began to set.

"Sure."

This ballpoint sketch turned out creepier than I intended. Also, it started with no real direction in mind, hence the 'nothing'. That is Franque down there, looking like he knows what he's doing. We'll see.
