The Dream Detective

Lisa, a 10 year old girl, seeks help from Frank, a grumpy private detective, to find her missing Imaginary Friend Wicket. They work together & follow clues and trails through an increasingly dreary world until they find Wicket in the clutches of a nightmarish culprit who has been kidnapping imaginary friends for his own evil purposes.

Lisa: She is a timid girl who loves to paint. She spends a lot of time with her friend, Wicket. But when he disappears suddenly, everything in her world becomes grey and she realises she cannot paint anything anymore.

Frank: Being an Imaginary Friend himself, he works cases related to the dream world. He hates seeing injustice and the oppression of the weak, whether human or imaginary friend. He does his best to help those who come to him though he is not always successful. He drowns out bad memories with apple cider (Imaginary Friends can’t take liquor.)

Clarence: A gigantic, horrifying bully. He enjoys making people fearful and miserable.
He is an Imaginary Friend gone bad. His human abandoned him long ago and in revenge, he steals Imaginary Friends from children to make them experience his loss.

Part of an illustrated proposal I wrote as a pre-selection test for my application to RMIT. The interview went quite well. I think the lecturers liked the idea, but they also cautioned me that it might be a bit too big to handle for a 4 month one-man project. So were I to actually create this as an animation (or whatever else), I've gotta figure out a way to streamline the story and all other elements within and make it work within the time constraints (e.g. technically speaking, I'm not quite sure how i'd really make Clarence work. haha... my brain fuses thinking about it.)

(And yes, Franque makes a cameo appearance in this potential project! I... I don't know why I keep picking him~ I love him so~ I thought it'd be fun to see him come to life properly. He'd be interesting to animate, especially with his birdy look~ )

Anyhow, I'm still figuring things out on my part as I've got rather a lot of free time now, waiting for school to start at the beginning of next year (don't ask, it's a long boring story). So inbetween looking for freelance work, reading, self-study, and re-looking at life, I've got to question myself about what I'm really concerned about in terms of subject matter. Something that I would truly be able to focus on when I start studying again.

And cooking. Goodness, I love cooking O_O Baking is like yay~! I went a bit crazy getting baking tools and stuff and imagining what to make and recipies to follow. For a few weeks, I forgot about being an artist. haha XD
